We founded 2Act4<\/strong> in Athens in June 2024, at a time when the fractures in our societies had never felt more visible \u2014 or more urgent to confront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As researchers, practitioners, and active citizens, we had witnessed the normalization of xenophobia, the weaponization of fear, and the spread of hate speech \u2014 both in the streets and online. We saw people being targeted not for what they did, but for who they were. And we understood that if we wanted democracy to mean something real, we had to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2Act4<\/strong> was born out of a refusal to accept hate as inevitable \u2014 and out of a deep belief that culture, dignity, and civic power can push back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are based in Greece, a country with a rich tradition of public discourse and democratic ideals \u2014 but also one grappling with inequality, social polarization, and rising far-right mobilization. Our work is rooted in this tension: how do we rebuild a culture of democracy in a space where toxic narratives thrive \u2014 not only in physical spaces, but in the unregulated digital arenas where extremist ideas circulate and take root?<\/p>\n\n\n\n We fight xenophobia, discrimination, hate crimes, and hate rhetoric \u2014 online and offline. But more than that, we work to build the conditions where democracy can grow: through education, community dialogue, research, media literacy, and strong partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2Act4<\/strong> is not just a reaction \u2014 it is an invitation to co-create. To act for<\/em> inclusion, dignity, accountability. To act for<\/em> the democratic promise.
